Thank you for taking the time to learn about the Endodontic practice of Dr. Tom Gillen. We are a dental practice that is limited to Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy). Dr. Gillen and his staff are committed to providing the highest quality of care in a relaxed atmosphere.
A patient is typically referred to our office from his or her general dentist when root canal therapy is needed. As part of a patient’s treatment team, we are in regular contact with your general dentist to ensure continuity of services.

Tom Gillen, D.M.D., M.S.D.
Dr. Gillen was born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University and his Dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Gillen went on to receive his certificate of Specialization and Masters Degree in Endodontics from Boston University in 2002.
While at Boston University Dr. Gillen was trained in the “Schilder technique” under the auspices of Dr. Herbert Schilder, developer and pioneer of the Warm Vertical Condensation of Gutta Percha method. Dr. Gillen also conducted research while attending Boston University. His research topic: “The effects of Interleukin 1β and Tumor Necrosis Factor α on Osseous and Soft Tissue Healing” was published, as part of a larger experiment, in the journal American Association of Immunologists in 2001.
Dr. Gillen practiced for five years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before starting his own practice in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 2007. Dr. Gillen is a member of the American Association of Endodontics and the American Dental Association. Currently, he resides in Murrysville with his wife Mary Jean.
